Ant-Man

So, I saw Ant-Man on Friday night. I am a hard core Marvel fan and I must say that I was more than extremely pleased with this movie. I mean it was really the whole package.
It was extremely funny, the action scenes are fantastic and the plot was incredibly interesting.
I also loved the actors, I think they did an amazing job. Paul Rudd really did an amazing performance and don't get me started on Michael Douglas.
Also, I greatly enjoyed the work of the director. It was, as I like to call it, Marvel Worthy.
Since I knew about this movie, I wondered how it would fit in Marvel's Cinematic universe. Well, I was completely amazed at that when I saw it. It was truly brilliant.
All in all, 8 out of 10.

Oscars

The Oscars were on Sunday the 22nd and I, like always, upheld the tradition of watching movie's greatest award show. Even though to me the show started at 1 A.M. (damn time-zones!) and only finished at 5 A.M. leaving me with only 3 hours of sleep, I make it my goal to watch it every year. I should tell you that usually I do not watch every movie nominated to Best Motion Picture of the Year, because I am 19 and usually one or two are way too "grown up" for me. However, this year I saw them all and every movie from the nominees for Best Leading Actress. I will admit that I did not see Foxcatcher. It's not my type of movie. I also never see the short movies, documentaries and foreign movies. But the rest I pretty much cover it.

Best Achievement in visual effects:
Interstellar
Captain America: The Winter Soldier Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Guardians of the Galaxy X-Men: Days of Future Past

I saw all of these in the cinema except for Dawn of the planet of the Apes. I don't really like the idea of that movie. All the other are simply fantastic and I myself do not know witch one is my favorite. But it was obvious that Interstellar would win this category. The movie's special effect are really out of this world not to mention the clever idea behind the incredible story.

Best Achievement in Sound Editing:

American Sniper

Birdman

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Interstellar

Unbroken

I know nothing about this category so I just put here the movies and the winner for you guys to see.

Best Achievement in Sound Mixing:

Whiplash

American Sniper

Birdman

Interstellar

Unbroken

If this Oscar hadn't gone to the only music based movie on the list I would have been shocked. But it did so my surprise was zero.

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song

Selma: CommonJohn Legend(Glory)

The Lego Movie: Shawn Patterson(Everything is Awesome)

Beyond the Lights: Diane Warren(Grateful)

Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me (2014): Glen CampbellJulian Raymond(I’m Not Gonna Miss You)

Begin Again (2013/II): Gregg AlexanderDanielle Brisebois(Lost Stars)

Now this was a tough one for me. I love three song in this category: Glory, Everything is awesome and Lost Stars. Though I love Everything is awesome, I knew that it would not win but that got me between Glory and Lost Stars. I love John Legend and Common and this song, the lyrics, the message, the melody, it is so good, it is definitely the best. It was obviously that the Oscar would go to them. But I love the movie Begin Again. This movie shook the core of me. It was what I needed to see when I needed to see. And the songs... Men, the songs. Lost starts is the best and Adam Levine singing it, it's just pure harmony. I have to say that though the Oscar went to the right song, my heart is in Lost stars.

Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score

The Grand Budapest Hotel

The Imitation Game

Interstellar

The Theory of Everything

Mr. Turner

This was considered the best score and I agree, although I also like the score of The Theory of Everything.

Best Achievement in Production Design:
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game
Interstellar
Into the Woods
Mr. Turner

Best Achievement in Costume Design:
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Inherent Vice
Into the Woods
Maleficent
Mr. Turner

Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling:
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Foxcatcher
Guardians of the Galaxy

Easy ones, this categories. It would have made absolute no sense if any of the other movies had won these.

Best Foreign Language Film of the Year
Ida
Tangerines
Leviathan
Wild Tales
Timbuktu

Best Achievement in Cinematography
Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Ida
Mr. Turner
Unbroken

Best Achievement in Editing
Whiplash
Boyhood
The Imitation Game
The Grand Budapest Hotel
American Sniper

I know nothing of these... Just for your knowledge, I put them here.

Best Animated Feature Film of the Year

Big Hero 6

The Boxtrolls

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Song of the Sea

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya

I love How to Train Your Dragon 2 but Big Hero 6 won me over and apparently won the academy over too.  I am not ashamed to say I cried.

Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen
Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Boyhood
Foxcatcher
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Nightcrawler

Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published
The Imitation Game
American Sniper
Inherent Vice
The Theory of Everything
Whiplash

So, I don't know much about these ones too, but I was very glad when The Imitation Game won an Oscar. It was my favorite movie nominated, and one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Best Achievement in Directing

Alejandro González Iñárritu for Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Richard Linklater for Boyhood

Bennett Miller for Foxcatcher

Wes Anderson for The Grand Budapest Hotel

Morten Tyldum for The Imitation Game

This one was very unexpected to me. I thought that Boyhood would win and I still think that it should have won. The movie took 12 years to make!! I think it that would count for something...

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

Patricia Arquette for Boyhood

Laura Dern for Wild

Keira Knightley for The Imitation Game

Emma Stone for Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Meryl Streep for Into the Woods

No surprise there. Patricia Arquette deserved this Oscar. She nailed her character. Funny Fact, when I saw Into the Woods this January, I knew as soon as I heard Meryl Streep saying her first line, that she would be nominated. Of course I also knew the she would win.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
J.K. Simmons for Whiplash
Robert Duvall for The Judge
Ethan Hawke for Boyhood
Edward Norton for Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
Mark Ruffalo for Foxcatcher

Again, no surprise... His performance was exceptional.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

Julianne Moore for Still Alice

Marion Cotillard for Two Days, One Night

Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything

Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl

Reese Witherspoon for Wild

Very, very good performance by Julianne Moore. I simply loved this movie. Very touching story.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything
Steve Carell for Foxcatcher
Benedict Cumberbatch for The Imitation Game
Bradley Cooper for American Sniper
Michael Keaton for Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

This one made amazingly happy.  I thought Michael Keaton would win but when they said Eddie's name I almost screamed and it was 5 a.m. here. Gosh, he deserved it so much.

Best Motion Picture of the Year
Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
American Sniper
Boyhood
The Imitation Game
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Selma
The Theory of Everything
Whiplash

First thing I did when I heard Birdman was say every curse I know. I predicted that it would be this one but I kept hoping I would be wrong.  But I wasn't... Unfortunately. And there you have my opinion.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Well deservedly this is the first movie I will write about. I have read the book and I must say that I am a huge fan. When I say huge, I actually mean monumental. So I bought ticket to the fifty shades movie one month in advance so I could watch it with my girlfriends on the opening day. And the days seemed to go on and on and on until the movie. Finally the day came and when I was sitting on the cinema I was a bit nervous. What if it turned out bad? Such a good story should have a really great movie. And I found out my worst fear were true. Now I like the movie because I love the book and the story but the movie in itself is just bad. The best way I can put the biggest problem in this movie is that instead of a continuous line, the story line feels like a continuous one. Like different pieces of a puzzle glued together by force not because they fit. I think it just suffered from a problem of bad directing. Also I love the soundtrack, but it is incomplete. There are just to many parts of the movie where you just listen to them talk and in the best part of those, I believe that an original score would have been for the best. Perhaps even necessary. This being said, the first movie of all beloved series is the worst so I'll be anxiously waiting for Fifty Shades Darker and I have very high hopes for it.

#movies #myopinion

Introduction
I have long loved movies. It's my favorite hobbies and, to be completely honest, my greatest weakness. I started to watch movies when I was about 13. Before that, I did not really had much contact with them, not even disney's, because my mother had this ridiculous idea that they were, for lack of a better word, evil. I spent my childhood without princess, monsters, magic or love histories, which made me go look for this things as soon as I got the chance. I started to see romantic movies, after all I am a girl. But after a certain number of these, I started to see a pattern and I sort of got bored with them. I moved on to action. Now I love action movies because these involve different stories and spectacular effects. But now I've seen most of the good ones and I started to see movies about true stories. Those one I love too, but to me movies are about imagination are for one hour in a half forgetting about the real problems. In a way, Movies are my salvation. So because I've seem so much movies, I've stop watching movie just for the fun and started to criticize them. Of course it's just my opinion. But I thought I would share it. So here it goes...My opinion.
